The Team Event TEAM LEAGUE – FINAL SCORES The team league this year was more interesting than ever. Mainline looked like they had it in the bag with all three of their pairs through to the semi’s but poor scores for two of the teams meant they let the title slip through their hands in the first semi. Korda B should have been there as well, but one of their pairs failing to turn up to an eliminator meant that they too were out of contention. Korda A snuck in to the lead after the first semi final when Gaz Fareham and Ali Hamidi took a worthy second and their result alone was enough to equal the Mainline score of 50 points but their superior weight put them at the top of the pile under the tie break rule. At the second semi only two teams could overtake Korda A. Crafty Carper and Velocity A both had two pairs through but both pairs had to catch to usurp Korda from the top slot. During the event only one pair from each of the challengers could put a fish on the bank so that meant Korda A had snuck through by literally just one fish from Velocity A and Crafty Carper. This historic result from a team that looked beaten earlier in the tournament showed gritty determination and a never give up attitude from Hamidi / Fareham. As well as being a great result for the lads it made the result back to back honours for the Essex based manufacturers and equaled the record of three wins in the Team League, making Korda and Mainline the most successful teams ever to enter the British Championships. Points are awarded for places in both the eliminators and the semi finals. ie: 12 points for a win in the eliminators, 11 for second etc. decreasing to 1 points for a blank. 25 points for a win in the semi’s through to 0 for a blank Only points scored in the eliminators and the semi finals count toward team scores. In the event of a tie for first place the winning team will be the team with the highest combined weights of the pairs representing the tied teams in the semi finals.
