Last year was Aquatels first sortie into the world of the BCAC and blistering hot weather plus spawning fish made it a tough event. This year we see a move to the earlier rounds so the weed and also the risk of spawning is lessened so it should be a cracking event. 4 or 5 fish should guarantee a place on the podium, and it responds to a whole host of tactics. Last years overall champions Matt Carter and Joe Atkinson qualified from here.
ELIMINATOR SPONSOR
Essex Carp Baits
Essex Carp Baits are a new company with a fresh approach to making and selling bait, boilies, particles and pellets. We encourage input from our customers and will try to incorporate your personal requirements to your order. It is our aim to produce the best quality bait with the finest ingredients and to bring this product to you at the best price we can.
The 28 acre Aquatels is rated as one of the best of the Essex day ticket waters and holds a good head of fish to over 40lb. Last years event was unfortunate in the fact that it coinciding with one of the warmest weekends of the year and with the Aquatels carp firmly in spawning mode, it was a struggle for everyone. An earlier start for 2010 will ensure a far more productive match and given the right conditions we could see one or two real lumps on the bank. 4 or 5 fish should put you through here and after looking through the competitor list we realy can't pick out a winner.
MATCH SUMMARY
ECB Aquatels is one for the big fish men and so it proved to be with the two biggest fish of the whole tournament gracing the net at this Essex super venue. Lee Emery and Chris Cummings hit the jackpot first with a stunning 38.06 common and this was followed up by a cracking 37.12 mirror for Michael Mack and Howard Carter. Elsewhere around the pond it was doubles and 20s that were making up the numbers but it was the two big fish that secured the honours for the two early leaders. Cell bottom baits and snowmen seemed to be the most successful tactic.
