We’ve been coming to Berners for the last 5 years and in that time the fish have packed a load of weight on and good fishery management has added more stock. It used to be quite tricky, but over the last couple of years we have seen some very big weights for those that get it right. It’s not a sit back and wait water, you have to graft, and for the last two years is have dominated the top slots.

This popular Essex venue Berners Hall has earnt itself a regular place on the BCAC calendar and the fishing seems to be improving every year. Tactics wise, Zigs have dominated the action in recent times so expect to work extremely hard if you want to take this one down and be one of the first teams through to the second semi final. The quality of the field lined up really is second to none this year with lots of individual talent amongst teams from CC Moore, Carp Talk, Norfolk & Chance and the RAF. This really could be a cracker and if conditions are favourable there could well be some big weights.
MATCH SUMMARY
Finchy’s Bankside Tackle put up the prizes for the Berners Hall event and what a cracker it tuned out to be. Being deeper than Chilham, the fish had not yet got into spawning mode but they were certainly on the munch and, as has been the case over the last three years, it was zigs that were doing the damage. The action started right from the off with former Berners Champions, Carp Talks Adam Snowden and Danny Fletcher racing away on 56.14 before anyone else had put a fish on the bank. Incredibly the top 4 teams bagged 55 fish between them and six teams were “in the zone” that the fish wanted to be. Virtually everything in this pack came out on zigs as the fish moved up and down the match stretch
