Our second visit to this water usually proves more productive than the first but don’t expect it to fish the same way. In previous years the first round has been won form completely different areas and using different tactics to the second round so it’s thinking cap time. With fish to 45lbs and loads of 30s it has a good chance of producing the biggest fish of the competition.
ELIMINATOR SPONSOR
Mainline Baits
Mainline Baits, one of the world’s largest carp bait manufacturers, teamed up with Mid Kent Fisheries in a joint venture to endorse Chilham Mill a few years ago.
Over the past few years both companies have continued to climb to the top of the Carp fishing world with Mid Kent Fisheries Conningbrook producing the British Record carp, and mainline's continued growth and commitment in research and development to produce some of the finest carp baits available today.
As the water is so popular we are once again holding two eliminators at the Mainline Baits sponsored Chilham Mill and with the first producing carp to over 36lb, we have high hopes the second will be just as good. In fact, it's usually better and as always with Chilham there's a very good possibilty that someone could winkle out a 40 pounder. Who will pull off the win this time around? Well it's another open heat to be honest, with several quality 'privateers' up against Teams from Rigmarole and Elite Angling Products.
MATCH SUMMARY
From the off it looked like spawning may occur at the Mainline sponsored Chilham Mill event and as the heat increased on Friday the fish started grouping up chasing each other round with food being the last thing on their minds. They were obvious by their presence and those that were not in spawning mode looked like they might take a floater. However it proved not to be the case as by the tea time just three fish had been landed. Incredibly as the evening brought the cooler weather only one more fish was banked and by 10pm there were three teams on the leader board.
By morning Kent boys John Waller and Nick Munn had managed to persuade 3 fish to make a mistake and led the way with 66lbs. Mark Johnson and Dave Pendegrass sat in second with two fish for 55.04 whilst John Godo / Pete Elliot held third with a solitary 23.
