The specimen lake at Cottington is one of carp fishings best kept secrets. A brilliant complex of day ticket lakes near Deal in Kent, the speccie holds some superb looking fish and a very impressive head of twenties and thirties. Not much is known about this one…it’s never been competition fished before, but you can rest assured that it is worthy of national status. When we first saw Cottington the anglers inside us thought we should keep it to ourselves it’s that good. If you haven’t been yet….get down there and be impressed.

Not surprisingly the heat has attracted a whole host of 'big names' including teams from Nash, Free Spirit, Rigmarole and Fox, with individuals such as the Makers and Londors & Flowers. Can it really get much better?
MATCH SUMMARY
Cottington is a new venue to the BCAC calendar and in practice there were some very impressive creatures banked. In fact 2 different forties in practice saw all eyes on this new Kent water as a real contender for the bigger fish of the tournament. However the fish spawned the week before the match and sadly only one or two big uns were banked but it is definitely one to watch for the future which is very bright for this cracking venue.
Paul Poynter and Ian Beedell were on the ball though, and three fish for them put them into the lead with 66lb 2oz showing the quality that this place has to offer. Very close behind were Bryan Byford and Dan Cooper with a two fish catch for 57lb 14oz and in third were local boys Billy McGarry /Lee Randall with two fish for 39.11.
