British Carp Angling Championships
THE BRITISH CARP ANGLING CHAMPIONSHIPS IS BACK – AND IT’S GOING TO BE EVEN BIGGER IN 2027!
The British Carp Angling Championships has been confirmed for 2027 – and tickets go on sale next weeks!
Now in its second year of being organised by the Angling Trust Competitions team, carp angling’s most famous event will be even bigger with 10 qualifiers at amazing fisheries and the return of the famous BCAC Team Trophy among several improvements.
The first qualifier takes place on at Linear’s B2 at the end of March and will be followed in April, May, June and July with events at Norton Disney’s Turner’s and Billy’s lakes, Willow Park, Naseby Reservoir, Broadlands Lakes, Wyreside Lakes, Loggies Lake, Orchard Place Farm, and Berner’s Hall.
Each qualifier will be of either 12 or 16 Pairs where three or four section winning Pairs will win through to the semi-finals, in 2027 being held at Barston Lakes and Billy’s Lake at Norton Disney in July.
Win your section of three anglers at the semis and you’ll be one of 12 Pairs who will be fishing for the main prize in a straight shootout at Broadlands Lakes on September 24 to 26, 2027.
Once again we’re guaranteeing a payout of £10,000 with the famous BCAC glass trophy to the winners, £3,000 plus trophies for second, and £2,000 plus trophies for third.
We’ll also be awarding the Reuben Heaton Biggest Carp trophy at the end of the competition for the biggest common or mirror caught during all stages of the event.
The 2027 BCAC will also see the return of the Team Trophy where three Pairs of anglers can register as a team under a sponsor/banner and will score league points as they progress through the competition. Points will be awarded for the positions they finish in their sections in the qualifiers and semi-finals – the further they get the more points they can score.
We’ve also made some tweaks to the format with watercraft draws taking place at all 10 qualifiers and the semi-finals with a random draw order then allowing anglers to select the swims they want to fish. The final will once again be an out of the bag draw.
“The feedback and support from anglers who have been part of the BCAC throughout its journey, alongside some of those fishing it for the first time last year has been brilliant,” said Steve Fitzpatrick, Angling Trust Head of Competitions.
“This feedback has allowed us to steer the BCAC in the right direction and give it a stable future.
“One of the most popular requests was the return of the BCAC Team Trophy and we’re delighted to be able to run that alongside the main event in 2027.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the BCAC last year and all the anglers, marshals, fisheries, and tackle companies who have already stepped up to support the competition in 2027 – thank you!”
Tickets for the Qualifiers will go on sale on Monday September 14 at 12 noon on a first come, first served basis via our website www.anglingtrust.net
Prices will remain the same as previous seasons at £500 per Pair, but Angling Trust Members will be able to enjoy a reduction of £100 on the ticket prices if both anglers are Members.
FORMAT
Each Qualifier will be split into sections of four Pairs. The sections will be based on the first four best pegs as Section A, the second best four peg as Section B, and the third best four pegs as Section C etc.
Based on a full sell out of tickets, the qualifier/number of sections breakdown is as follows:
- Qualifiers of 12 Pairs = 3 sections = 3 Pairs go through to Semi Finals
- Qualifiers of 16 Pairs = 4 sections = 4 Pairs go through to Semi Finals
The winner of each Section will qualify for the semi-finals; therefore 36 Pairs will win through to the semi-final stage.
The Pairs who qualify will have any future Qualifier tickets refunded to them and these will be offered to anglers on first come, first served basis. All tickets which become available will be announced on the Angling Trust Competitions Facebook page.
Two Semi-Finals have been booked for 2027, with 24 Pairs competing at Barston Lakes in eight sections, and 12 Pairs fishing the Billy’s Lake Semi in four sections. The 12 section-winning Pairs will earn their places in the BCAC Final.
Hosted at the fabulous Broadlands Lakes, the Final will see 12 Pairs battle it out over 48 hours for the prestigious title and a prize pot of £15,000.
